King - Unannounced Project

During the summer 2015, I have been part of the 2nd Kingternship program for 12 weeks. This internship, realized at the end of my 4th year at Supinfogame, took place at King's new studio in Berlin.

My main tasks on the project were to research and create new HUD assets, and to design a new character for the game based on an existing art style, ready to be animated on Spine. I also had the chance to study the Kanban Management method through a workshop and the work of the BPU teams. Our development team being small, I had multiple occasions to work with the BPU team, but also the Game Designers and the Developers.

The UI/UX Designs shown here were based off the first mock-ups created by the teams. Together with Francesca Chilà, our goal was to overcome the challenges of the game design to be able to have a functional UI for the mobile devices. I have worked on the UX by creating layouts of new possible HUD for the game while keeping in mind our design constraints, and I have worked on new visual designs for the UI as well, all done on Illustrator.

The game needed several characters and a first draft of them had already been designed by the art team when I arrived. I was in charge of exploring different body shapes, styles and colours to help defining the visual identity of the game. I have worked on the representation of the Sagittarius zodiac sign, created it in Illustrator and polished it in Photoshop, before exporting the assets to be animated in Spine. I also chose to provide my animator colleague with a mood sheet of my character to help him animate its different expressions.

During the last week of my internship, I have created placeholders assets for the Game Designers and Developers to use in the level editor. The goal was to make the work more enjoyable for the team by having good-looking and easily readble assets.
