"Fall In" is a project I have worked on with three schoolmates. It has been created for the Imagine Cup 2014 video game contest. In this game, you control a cube and have to use his "mirrored other one" that you can see on the layer behind to reach the door and step to the next level. But the other cube doesn't do the exact same things as you : in fact, each level is associated with a proverb that you must understand to know how the other cube will react to your movements.
The more boundless your vision, the more real you are.
Mickaël and I, the two game artists working on this project, have spent a lot of time doing researches about the artistic direction : the representation of the avatar, the feelings the player should have just with a look at our world...
The most particular choice we did was to create all the textures with real watercolour. All our game has been hand-painted, then scanned, improved on Photoshop and then implemented in Unity. We wanted to do this, first because we thought that this would be a great way to give an oniric feeling to our universe, and then because it was a very interesting challenge to beat. We wanted to know what and how we can achieve a traditional-made game, and the result is right in front of your eyes.
